On the occasion of the nationwide day against strokes, attention is drawn to the importance of early detection and targeted aftercare. A stroke is a medical emergency where every minute counts.
Recognize warning signs with the FAST rule
The so-called FAST rule helps to quickly classify typical symptoms:
- F – Face: Is the face paralyzed on one side or is one corner of the mouth hanging?
- A – Arms: Can a person raise both arms equally?
- S – Speech: Is the speech suddenly slurred or changed?
- T – Time: In case of suspicion, call 112 immediately.
Prompt treatment can help to reduce consequential damage and improve recovery.
Frequent consequences remain invisible
It is not only physical limitations that occur after a stroke. Many of those affected also suffer from cognitive or psychological complaints, such as concentration problems, memory problems, difficulty finding words or severe fatigue. These consequences are often not immediately visible in everyday life, but can have a significant impact on quality of life.
Digital support in rehabilitation
Targeted training can help to regain lost abilities. As the brain remains adaptable, progress is also possible in the long term.
The myReha app supports those affected with digital exercises for language, memory, concentration and everyday skills. The training can be carried out flexibly from home and complements existing rehabilitation measures.
