E-prescription

E-prescription

The e-prescription has been around for some time, but only “took off” at the beginning of 2024. This is because doctors’ surgeries have been obliged to issue them since then.

The procedure

with app or health card

Your doctor’s surgery issues the e-prescription in the form of a prescription code. You can then call up this code via the e-prescription app or the ePA app.

In the desired pharmacy you can either:

  • show the code in your app or
  • Have your electronic health card (eGK) scanned at the pharmacy.

The prescription can also be sent electronically to a pharmacy or online pharmacy via the app.

You can download the e-prescription app here:

The doctor issues the e-prescription in the form of a prescription code, which you can receive as a paper printout. You present the paper printout at the pharmacy of your choice. The pharmacist scans the code and you receive the desired medication.

Note: Regardless of how the e-prescription is redeemed, it is created by the doctor in the practice management system and always stored in the specialist service in the telematics infrastructure (TI). When the health card is inserted into the card reader in the pharmacy, the redeemable e-prescriptions are retrieved from the TI and the required medication can be dispensed. The health insurance companies have no access to this data.

Would you like to use an e-prescription via app with a health card and PIN?

Identify for a PIN

In order to use the e-prescription and many other future applications, prior secure identification is required. The Nect eID procedure for checking the eID of your ID card offers a convenient option:

The following procedures are also available:

  • Personal visit to one of our branches (we identify you)
  • Postident at home (Upon request from the BKK W&F, a postman will visit you at home and identify you)

Please have your eGK and ID card ready for all procedures. After successful identification, you will automatically receive a PIN via Deutsche Post.

Only if not already available: order a health card with NFC function

A 6-digit number (CAN) is printed on an eGK with NFC function under the black bar of the German colors. Is this not yet included on your health card? Send us a current photo and you will automatically receive a health card with NFC function.
