The “Act to Improve Online Access to Administrative Services” (Online Access Act – OZG) stipulates that essential administrative services must also be offered digitally. It is intended to make it easier to apply for services from authorities, administrations and therefore also statutory health insurance companies.

Administrative services of the statutory health and long-term care insurance

Since January 1, 2023, many administrative services can be accessed on the federal portal published by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community. federal portal can be applied for. These include statutory health and long-term care insurance services such as general membership applications, ordering a new insurance card or applying for maternity benefits.

The health insurance funds must ensure that they can process electronic inquiries about their administrative services via the federal portal in the same way as direct inquiries to their own portals, in particular online branch offices and Internet branches.

Technically, this takes place via a two-stage linking process:

  1. Insured persons who call up a topic area on the federal portal can select their health insurance fund after an initial general information and are
  2. The customer is then redirected to a specific application offer from the health insurance company – for example in an Internet branch or service app.
