The collective term “alternative medicines” refers to non-prescription but pharmacy-only medicines of homeopathy, phytotherapy (medicinal plants or their parts) and anthroposophy.

The subsidy amounts to up to 130 euros per calendar year, with no percentage limit.
Reimbursable medicines are
- prescribed in advance by a doctor,
- obtained in a pharmacy or by mail order as permitted under German law and
- not excluded from care by decision of the Federal Joint Committee.
The reimbursement documents must also be received by the BKK W&F by March 31 of the following year at the latest.
Proof of the doctor’s prescription is required to check the reimbursement of costs. You can obtain a printout of this e-prescription from your doctor’s surgery or pharmacy.
We have no access to stored data such as e-prescriptions on your insurance card.
