Long-term care insurance also offers specific benefits and other advantages for carers who do not provide their help in a household on a professional basis (voluntary care).
Under certain conditions
- Volunteer carers are covered by statutory pension insurance,
- Volunteer carers receive statutory accident insurance cover for the care they provide,
- volunteer carers can receive special support when returning to work after the end of their caring role and take part in free care courses, which are also offered online.
Voluntary work does not cease because the person in need of care passes on the care allowance to their carer. Carers also do not have to fear that other social benefits (such as parental allowance or early retirement pension) will be withdrawn for this reason.
Likewise, no one has to leave the free family insurance in health and nursing care with the BKK for this reason. However, anyone receiving unemployment benefits should report the voluntary care to the employment agency so that it can be checked whether they are still employable.
Nursing courses
Relatives of people in need of care, but also other people who are interested in voluntary care, can take part in care courses offered by the BKK care insurance fund free of charge, which are also available online. If it makes sense, carers who are caring for someone insured with the BKK also receive individual care advice at home. We will be happy to provide you with more detailed information about our course program if required.
