Pain treatment for tension

Electrotherapy is used specifically to treat pain, muscular tension and to strengthen the muscles. In this therapy, electrical currents with different oscillation frequencies usually flow directly through the skin. There are different types of electrotherapy, such as stimulation current therapy, stimulation current massage and electrogymnastics. Electrotherapy must not be used if the patient has a pacemaker or metal implants (e.g. after surgery).

Frequently asked questions

Electrotherapy treatments prescribed by a SHI-accredited doctor’s office are considered remedies and are covered by statutory health insurance. Insured persons only have to pay a statutory co-payment.
