What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual diagnosis and therapy. It treats the musculoskeletal system, the internal organs and the nervous system – using only the hands, without devices, injections or medication. The focus is on the body’s self-healing powers: the treatment is intended to release blockages and rebalance the interaction of the body’s systems.
How much does BKK W&F pay for osteopathy?
Osteopathy is not one of the standard benefits covered by statutory health insurance. As a special additional benefit, the BKK W&F reimburses its policyholders up to 360 euros per year – regardless of age, without a percentage limit and without a limit per session. We deduct the amount per insured person from the invoice amount.
How to receive your refund
- Obtain a doctor’s prescription. Osteopathic treatment must be prescribed by a doctor in advance.
- Choose a qualified practitioner. The sessions must be carried out by medical doctors, physiotherapists or alternative practitioners who are members of a professional association of osteopaths or who have completed training with the appropriate authorization.
- Submit invoice and application. Submit the prescription, invoice and completed application to us by March 31 of the following year at the latest.
Important: The term “osteopath” is not protected in Germany and says nothing about the qualification. If you are unsure whether the qualification is sufficient for reimbursement, it is best to ask us before starting treatment.
