During an inpatient preventive or rehabilitation cure, you travel to a recognized cure or rehabilitation clinic for treatment. You live and eat there and receive all the therapies and treatments that are necessary for your specific illness or health disorder.
Although they are referred to as “spa or rehabilitation clinics”, inpatient cures are not hospital stays. In order to benefit from such a cure, you must, for example, be able to actively participate in the preventive care or rehabilitation programs. Also, inpatient cures are not generally about diagnostics. This must be completed beforehand.
Scope of services
The costs for mother-child cures or father-child cures are covered by the statutory health insurance funds. After the age of 18, insured persons only pay a co-payment of 10 euros per calendar day.
Inpatient cures usually last three weeks. It is intended to cure or alleviate an existing illness or other health problem. It may be necessary if you are severely impaired physically, mentally or emotionally by the illness and are likely to be permanently restricted in your everyday life or already are. Used as a preventive measure, inpatient treatment is intended to improve your already weakened health and thus prevent an impending illness in the foreseeable future. It should help you to help yourself and enable you to strengthen your health on your own responsibility.
Prerequisites
Inpatient cures are generally only possible if outpatient treatments and cures are not sufficient or are not appropriate from a socio-medical point of view.
