The number of cases of mental illness in children and adolescents has risen significantly during the Corona pandemic. Before the pandemic, about 30 percent of children were emotionally stressed and reported a reduced quality of life, now 70 percent of children are. The number of cases of mental abnormalities has doubled and has risen from about 17 percent to 30 percent. Children and adolescents have been increasingly suffering from anxiety disorders and depressive symptoms since the pandemic. Especially in the second lockdown, many children developed separation fears and many young people fears about the future. The number of psychosomatic symptoms, such as abdominal pain, headaches or sleep problems, has also doubled since the beginning of the pandemic.
In order to avoid long waiting times and thus prevent the mental illnesses from becoming chronic, it is important to be able to offer children and adolescents therapy quickly if necessary. This is made possible by the nationwide contract for video-based online psychotherapy for children and adolescents up to the age of 21 and their parents, which we offer to our policyholders together with the management company medicalnetworks.
