More and more children and young people are suffering from headaches and facial pain. Our project partner Zies GmbH has developed a teaching unit that shows which measures help with which type of headache and how headaches can be prevented. It also raises awareness of the risks of unthinking use of medication. Teachers, pupils and their parents are to be comprehensively informed in order to achieve greater awareness of headache disorders at school age.
As part of the “Aktion Mütze – Childhood Without Headaches” initiative, these lesson plans are made available free of charge to all seventh-grade classes in Germany. To date, the material has already been implemented in 15 federal states. As a result, over 180,000 children and adolescents have learned how to prevent headaches. Together with other health insurance providers, we also support graduating classes through special grants for individual schools to ensure the topic is addressed in a sustainable manner.
