We have contact with digital media in almost all areas of life. Its use offers advantages but also risks. However, they have different effects on children in particular and disrupt their development. Young children are still experiencing their senses and need social contact so that their brains can mature and they can learn social skills. It is important that children grow up healthy in the digital age.

“We don’t want to raise our children to be tech-savvy machine slaves, but to be self-determined people who can decide for themselves the extent and type of media they use.”
Prof. Paula Bleckmann, Conceptual Director of ECHT DABEI

The “ECHT DABEI” prevention program sensibly combines the promotion of health and the promotion of media literacy among children in daycare centers and elementary school. It is pedagogically and scientifically supported.
The goal of the program is to protect children from the risks associated with media. To achieve this, the program promotes children’s media literacy and involves their social circles. Parents, childcare professionals, and elementary school teachers are educated about the potential effects of media use and learn how media affects children at different ages. They receive tips on how to avoid media-related stress in everyday life.
