The self-governing body of the BKK WIRTSCHAFT & FINANZEN (BKK W&F) is the administrative board, which is elected according to the self-government law of the statutory social insurance.
Self-governance can be found as a democratic element in many areas of public life and is a fundamental principle of statutory health insurance. The state provides the legal framework and exercises legal supervision. However, the representatives of the insured persons and employers, as those affected and those paying contributions, regulate their specific concerns themselves in the self-governing bodies. This ensures that the organization of healthcare corresponds to the reality of life and that fact-based decisions are made.
